Promising ideas – Welcome to 2025

The celebrations marking our 50th anniversary in 2024 are still fresh in our memories, but we will still start the new year with vigour and forward-looking projects, embarking on what we hope will be an equally successful second half century in our company’s history. Over the first 50 years, the construction industry and urban and project development underwent some massive changes. A brief glance at the trends and key terms in our Glossary provides some insight into essential, defining topics and rapid developments. It is reasonable to assume that these developments are unlikely to slow down. Quite the contrary: the ever-increasing focus on sustainability is adding yet another component to this change, joining our society’s requirements for new living concepts, mobility, “third spaces” and collaborative use. New technologies and the immense potential of digital transformation make our industry a very complex and truly exciting challenge – one that we face up to afresh every single day. With ideas, thoughts, visions and concrete projects.

Today’s visions are tomorrow’s needs

One of the most exciting challenges is certainly “anticipating” future housing and living requirements. In our line of work, it would be fatal to come to the realisation that contemporary tastes, trends, technical and use-related possibilities have been neglected and we have become “out of touch” by the time a project is completed. So far, we have been extraordinarily successful in working at this interface between the present and the future, all the while delivering concepts with a strong personality that remain just as visionary and trend-setting once they are completed. This broad variety is also reflected in the envisaged projects for 2025: the WEGRAZ pipeline includes communal living, developments focussing on green spaces and sustainable living in an urban environment, as well as living spaces for upmarket to luxury requirements.

Current projects

The latest trends and requirements are reflected at Turracher Höhe, Grabenstrasse 146, Grüne Gasse 4 and Lieboch, which also shed light on how we are looking beyond the horizon and planning for future needs. Lieboch – a sweeping project comprising green space, leisure facilities and much more – also stands as testimony to a fresh and revolutionary facet of contemporary planning and development processes. These examples allow us to incorporate individual, future-oriented needs in real large-scale projects and hence embrace economic, ecological and ultimately sustainable success.

Digitalisation as a development accelerator

As we mentioned earlier, our activities going forward will be shaped not only by this type of collaborative development process. Instead, a key focus will be on sustainability, coupled with the immense potential of new technologies and the digital transformation, which have long been absorbed into the construction industry. Included in this is a wide range of automation options in building utilisation – along the lines of “smart homes” – as well as highly innovative approaches right from the planning stage. Readers can look forward to more exciting updates on these exciting topics in the next two blog posts.
